Furthermore, King Mayadenawa created a poisonous spring to ensnare Batara Indra's troops, causing many to fall ill upon drinking the toxic water.
In retaliation, Batara Indra struck the ground, producing a healing spring to rejuvenate his ailing soldiers, and this miraculous spring became known as Tirta Empul. The spring was transformed into a water garden in 882 Caka by King Indrajaya Sigha Warmadewa. Later on, a place of worship devoted to God Indra was erected in its vicinity.
